Bio
Erik van Schoor is a director, writer and storyboard artist. After working at a moving image agency for five years, he went freelance in 2020. In 2024, van Schoor completed the Mad Max homage Hope and Glory, which achieved over 1.6 million views on YouTube within 4 months. Here he was responsible for the direction, screenplay and storyboards and produced the film under the Brightstone Pictures banner in cooperation with Bureau Dada and PixStone Images. Van Schoor is also known for his work on horror short films and for his graphic novel The Red Night, which has been praised by critics for its atmosphere and ambition.
Early days
Telling stories in pictures is a recurring theme in his life. He has been drawing and telling stories with pictures since the age of two, before starting to draw extensive comics in his early youth and making his first films with friends on mini-VHS at the age of 11. Erik completed various internships in film and television in Munich before moving to Berlin in 2014 and starting to work in an agency for online films. Over 5 years he gained shooting experience on countless commercial shoots and expanded his skills in the areas of production, directing and editing. Parallel to his full-time job, van Schoor published his first graphic novel with Kult Comics Verlag in 2020. Since 2021, van Schoor has dedicated himself to narrative film and develops genre material and scripts for feature films as a writing director.
